2016 Age Group Coordinators (AGC)

What is an AGC?

An AGC is a volunteer parent (or several volunteer parents) who will act as an assistant to the commissioner(s) in facilitating the key goals and objectives of Dulles South Lacrosse, Inc. at the age-group level.  Who are the 2015 Age Group Coordinators?

What do AGCs do?

Overall Coordination:  What does this mean?  Simply put, works with the Girls Commissioner and Assistant Girls Commissioner to coordinate the messaging and expectations of the program relative to fields, team/player/coach assignments, conflict resolution efforts and general esprit de corps for the age group.

Conflict Resolution:  General ‘chain of command’ lead for an age group.  If a parent has an issue, their first contact is the Head Coach.  If no resolution occurs with Head Coach, next step is the AGC.  If the issue is with the AGC, next step is Asst. Commissioner.  If no resolution occurs with the Assistant Commissioner, next step is with Girls Commissioner.  If no resolution occurs with the Girls Commissioner, next step is the Board of Directors.

Coach Staff Support:   Act as a general support/sounding-board for the Age Group Coaching Staff in regard to parental and player management.

Coach Selection/Development:  Network with parents and interested volunteers to identify and cultivate new coaches (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Helper) on an ongoing basis.

Coach Communication:  Open/ongoing communication with the coaching staff within an age group to be certain they have what they need in both mechanical and intellectual resources.  Communicate with Assistant Girls Commissioner and Girls Commissioner to provide resources as needed.

Uniform Coordination:  Work with Dulles South Lacrosse, Inc. on distribution and collection of uniforms in a timely manner.

Player Assignment & Communication:  Work in conjunction with evaluators to make player assignments following the evaluation period preceding each spring season.  Some years engagement will be more broad than narrow based on player talent pool and volunteer participation.  In general terms Dulles South Lacrosse, Inc. will seek support and counsel from neutral/outside evaluators to enhance the placement process.  Following their input, AGCs will work with coaches and commissioners to make final team placement of players and communicate that placement to families via standardized email.

Torchbearer:  Youth sports can be challenging.  However, participation - both for players and parents - can be one the most positive elements of a young person’s life.  Being a torchbearer for Dulles South Lacrosse and for Girls Lacrosse means being a beacon of light and support to/for the young athletes in our care.  The AGC should strive to be an positive influence at all times
